Hare Hare Yukai

"Hare Hare Yukai" is the ending theme for an explosively popular anime called Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, or The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. The anime tells the story of a girl who can change the world if she becomes too bored with it, though she herself is unaware of her power. In her world, things like time travelers, aliens, and espers exist simply because life would be more fun if it did. I found it to be a very interesting series to watch, even if it was a bit confusing because it went for a Memento effect by airing the episodes out of order (on purpose, to emulate her world changing power).

Anyways, there is a dance in the ending theme that has taken over the nation of Japan. Observe Exhibit A, where the original version is compared to a bunch of Gundam toys that are animated Celebrated Deathmatch style dancing to the theme.

Exhibit B, where a mass crowd of Haruhists (the term for Haruhi fans) does the dance, only to be broken up by police at the end.

And, we cannot neglect Exhibit C, wherein cosplayers and a lot of free time attempt to replicate the entire dance in its entirety.
