No painkillers for me

Yesterday, I woke up with that very painful sore throat feeling. It was so painful I had to wake up at 8:00am (my first class isn’t until 11:00am right now) and chug a bottle of water to feel better. Oh yeah, I got that painful dagger in my throat feeling each time I swallowed. Thanks, Phil, and thanks to the chain of people who led this sickness to waste five hours of my day sleeping.

Another FOCUS lunch, another great time.

I found out that my 1:00 MWF class has been moved to 10:00 starting next week, so that should free up my afternoons a little more (it stinks having your lunch hour squeezed by two classes).

College Republicans went well. There were quite a few talented students there, which is surprising considering the leadership of the Young Democrats on campus. The campaign volunteers went on their usual spiel about how a few votes can make a difference. I’m too lazy to canvass, but I’m inspired enough to start writing some clever conservative arguments for the Collegian.

I was about to go to bed yesterday before I got a phone call. Hey, Daniel, do you want some free chocolate chip cookies? They were just made in the oven, and we’ll even bring them over to you. Let me think about this…they’re free and I have to exert little effort to get them. Heck yeah, I’ll take some. Doesn’t matter if I’m sick, I’m a sucker for free food. A big hearty thanks to Lauren and Kristin for brightening my day.

Today, I will tell you about something quirky about me. Even though my body is racked by pain, I refuse to take painkillers. That’s right, no Tylenol, no Advil, no aspirin for me. My reasoning is the more painkillers I take now, the more painkillers I will need to take later in life to feel good. I trust my immune system to defeat the invaders all these freshmen have brought on campus. Besides, I’m bound to get sick at least two or three times this semester. I might as well take care of one early.
