In that vein, what do think the Democrats could have done differently that would have attracted you? In the end, was it the social issues that made you consider the Republican party the better choice for you and what made you think the Democrats were a lesser choice for you? If you consider yourself a moderate republican, do you feel the adminstration reflects that, or what changes would you like to see in the 2nd term?

Note: I mean this in all sincerity; I'm not trying to attack you or back you into a corner. As you noted a few posts ago, LJ can be pretty liberal, and as a progressive, sometimes I lure myself into thinking people think like me. So, I'm trying to expand my viewpoint. If you feel uncomfortable with this, that's fine too.

These are good questions. When I have some time to think about it, I promise to post answers to those questions.

I don't mean to barge in on a question meant for someone else, but I'm a moderate Republican and I voted Libertarian because I didn't think I could trust Kerry to put his attention on what mattered post-Election. Yes, I feel he would have improved the economy somewhat. Yes, I feel he would have pulled us out of Iraq at a feasible point. But I didn't agree with his stances on working with the U.N. to determine foreign policy, and I didn't like the fact that he openly admitted he wanted to publicize health care and essentially provide no overhaul to a failing Social Security system.

In essence, he didn't convince me he was going to be a moderate Democrat (a la Clinton) instead of a party Democrat. And let's be honest - after 20 years in the Senate, anyone's going to think like a bureaucrat.

Heh. I probably should have used a different icon for that.

Good article, I put a copy of it in my LJ.
