The turkey, the turkey

So yeah, one 10 pound turkey is too big for an Asian family of four. We managed to get the wings and legs before we gave up.

My sister returned home. We heard great news, since she's finally graduating this December. She had been a chemical engineering major until she switched to accounting. In her senior year, no less. And she's already got a job lined up that will pay 38K. Not too shabby starting out, I must say.

My Mom tried out this new recipe for mashed potatoes from scratch. Oh yeah, the texture was so smooth. So good.

This year, my scheming roommate and I did a little trade. My mom made his family some egg rolls, and his mom made my family some cranberry apple bake. Wow, that bake was awesome. Unfortunately, I only got to eat one piece (if I had eaten anymore, I would have thrown up). Perhaps he and I will consider future trades...

All the tryptophan knocked me out for about two hours. I still think I'm feeling the aftereffects of it all. And of course, we're having more turkey tonight. There's going to be some good sleeping tonight.

We had a 22 pound turkey for dinner with my family today. And we ate all of it! I can't believe we don't have any leftover turkey. That just blows my mind.

I don't know how big our turkey was, but we had one whole one and a plate of slices. The slices appeared before I got there, so I know not from whence they came... the turkey on the table was whole and untouched. Everyone ate the slices. I actually think there are still slices left... we probably just bought an additional turkey, breast-only, and ate that first.

Egg rolls would've made it all so much better, though. I am jealous.

My lovely boyfriend also made Cranberry-Apple Streudel (Which I suppose is similar to Cran-Apple Bake- it had sweet crumbs on top and cranberries and apples undearneath) and brought it over for my family after he finished eating with his.

I'm looking forward to eating all of it again today.

My mom's egg rolls are amazing. :)

Yeah, the cran apple bake had oatmeal and pecans on top. So they're very similar. And they're both delicious.

I used to get egg rolls from a co-worker of mine whose mom made them for him. They were truly wonderful and I was sad when he went to work somewhere else - no more homemade egg rolls for me. I miss them.

There are no egg rolls like homemade egg rolls.
