Rice, staple of Asian diets

I'm never quite sure about those low-carb diets because I've always eaten plenty of carbohydrates in the form of rice. When I grew up, I ate rice three times a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five days a year. Not only do you learn to eat sticky rice, but you learn to eat rice noodles, rice vermicelli, rice paper, rice cakes, etc.

Fried rice is good, but give my white steamed rice any day. And not that weak tasting American rice. Give me some Asian rice, the kind that clumps together (due to the sugar, sticky rice has quite a bit of sugar in it).

Tonight was the first time I used Mr. Rice this semester. Mr. Rice is a rice cooker, but it's more than that. It not only cooks the rice, but it has the added bonus of keeping the rice warm and moist. I'm just too lazy to use it more often.

Mmmmmm...rice, soy sauce, and pork fu make a good meal.

Trust me.

I like white rice with butter and salt. That's about it. Otherwise I prefer fried.

Sounds good, bit a bit unhealthy...

I <3 my rice cooker. Craig and I go to the Asian market near my mother's to buy our rice. We make awesome stir frys, but I also love the sweet coconut milk rice dessert craig makes too. Rice is definitely one of my favorite foods.

Yes, always buy rice from the Asian market. It's much better quality. :)

Just thought you'd like to know that your post inspired me to order Chinese for dinner. Yum.....

Awesome. Do you order from New Hong Kong? They're close to campus and give you lots of food.

Heck yeah! Sadly, I have their menu in my room. Cause I like calling in to save me a little time.

I don't know Daniel. I just can't take rice like that. I mean, a little bit is ok, but that much is just...well, too much. I know it's different for you, since that's what you grew up on. Up until this last summer, I was much of the same opinion as you. I didn't like it quite a much as you, but I thought the best rice was the sticky rice. But then this summer I ate rice in Peru for two or three meals a day, and since then I can't really take it anymore. Sorry :(

yes, white rice is yummy! I can't say that I have ever had Asian rice though, just American rice :p

Much Hope and Many Blessings! =^_^=
