Because the Night

I heard this song on the radio on the other day and thought it was pretty cool!

Old hippie!

At the risk of sounding patronizing, did you know that was written by Springsteen? It's a perfect pop song. "Mission UK" does a great cover of her "Dancing Barefoot".

And speaking of covers, her cover of "When Doves Cry" is sublime.

Now now, should I really be held accountable for songs that were written before I was born?

I'm not holding you accountable. I just thought it was a good FYI.

Smart ass.

It's funny because Springsteen wrote it: Smith sang it. Then in the 90's, 10000 Maniacs covered it in an unplugged session, and then Patti Smith became hip again. She was in mourning over her husband, Fred "Sonic" Smith.

This is the kind of crap I spew to my girlfriend, who then calls me a music snob, and old.

Now, get off my lawn!

Springsteen has sung it, too - it's my favorite version of the song.

And then there's the Cascada (German europop) rendition...

Thanks. I'll check it out after work. Did he ever put it on an album?

It was on the Live 1975-1985 album.

I hadn't realized the 10,000 Maniacs version was a cover; I had thought they were the original.

This happens more often than you think!
