IT'S EVIL FOR A WRITER TO BACK OUT ON YOU ON THE DAY BEFORE YOU HAVE TO DO LAYOUT.

WHY MUST I STAY UP TILL FIVE AM TO WRITE AN ARTICLE TO COVER SOMEONE ELSE'S @$$?

oh, THAT'S RIGHT, I SIGNED UP FOR THIS JOB.

AND, OH YEAH, YOUR FIRST SENTENCE IN AN OP ED PIECE SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BE "It is my opinion that..."

If all you need to do to that piece is chop off the first five words, it's not bad for a college paper. If the thing gets more annoying from there, well, you can threaten to chop off their fingers.

Oh yes, I remember my days as news editor. All year I begged, pleaded with people to make their Friday deadline. Some would, some wouldn't. Come Sunday night, some people might get around to turning in their stories at, oh, 9:00. I would explain to them that I'm a person, too, and I could not deal with getting their stories in that late and trying to edit, and then place them in the paper. As you know, each section is a giant puzzle, and it's hard to know how to put the pieces together without all of them there. And yes, you'll get alot of work that is obviously something they did in 5 minutes. They figure that you are the editor and you'll make it good. *sigh* I know how it feels.

I'm setting my deadline on Thursday. If they don't have anything by then, I'm not counting on them.

InDesign was surprisingly simple to use. Just annoying to use stupid Macs, even if Macs are more intuitive to use.
