Chi Thu's response to my dream girl
Sep. 11th, 2004 01:03 amSince her reply hits the nail on the head, I’ll post Chi Thu’s response to the qualities I’m looking for in my dream girl(anime explanation lady says that chi is a Vietnamese honorific referring to an older sister, though this person is certainly no blood relation to Daniel).
I should be more careful of what I ask for. Because I just might get an honest answer to an honest question.
Those funny symbols all around the Vietnamese saying are inflection marks used by a system called Vietnet. Good luck trying to make sense of them because I can read Vietnamese decently well and I struggle with it.
Here’s the thoughtful response to the qualities of my dream girl .
Duy,
Have you ever thought of being swept off your feet by a woman who is
nothing or very little like your dream girl? It happens, my friend,
believe me. And have you not heard "ghe't cu?a na`o, tro*`i trao cu?
a do'"? (You get what you don't want, basically). I don't think
there's such a thing as the laws of attractions.
Have you ever thought as well that your soul mate might not be a
Vietnamese? Face it, you are more comfortable expressing yourself in
English. You are more American than Vietnamese. Would you say you
have an American mentality? You know what, when Duy meets the woman
of his life, I don't think he cares if she can cook/clean/young/old,
whatever, as long as she can make him happy. But she will have to be
a smart cookie and accept Duy as his is. She has to know Duy enough
to bring out in him the things that he does not want to show.
How's that for insight?
