I'll admit his live vocals are worse than terrible. No doubt about that. But, there are three reasons why people love Sanjaya, including your sensei.
1. You Really Got Me, also known as the "Crying Girl" performance 2. Bathwater, i.e. the infamous "Ponyhawk" 3. Besame Mucho, where he was the only one to sing in Spanish on Latin night, or how Sanjaya will sell a million CD's thanks to his inexplicable popularity with teenager girls and a fairly good registry on the soft end of the vocal scale (the studio can only help him)
Remember, the kid is only 17 years old, and for him to handle that pressure can only help make him a stronger. Even the judges admit he has potential. I don't understand the Sanjaya phenomenon, I only fear it. ;)
