Hayride

An international ministry group on campus sponsored a hayride tonight, so I went out and had lots of fun. You gotta love fire roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. I always get a good laugh trying to explain things to internationals (yes, we'll literally be riding hay on a hayride).

We played soccer, and the hayride itself was fun, but the best part of the night was singing folk songs. The awesome part is that we heard folk songs from China, Taiwan, Kenya, and Iran. It's interesting hearing the Persian version of Edelweiss. As usual, the Oklahoma people sang "Oklahoma!" (O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A, Oklahoma, OK!), which brought back good memories of when I was an Asian farmer for a high school musical.

It also made me realize how much of my childhood that I had forgotten. I haven't sung "Oh Susanna!", "She'll comin' around the mountain when comes", or "Singin' in the Rain" since I was an avid watcher of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Any good ol' American knows "Home on the Range", but does anyone remember how it starts?
