Rice, staple of Asian diets
Dec. 4th, 2004 12:25 amI'm never quite sure about those low-carb diets because I've always eaten plenty of carbohydrates in the form of rice. When I grew up, I ate rice three times a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five days a year. Not only do you learn to eat sticky rice, but you learn to eat rice noodles, rice vermicelli, rice paper, rice cakes, etc.
Fried rice is good, but give my white steamed rice any day. And not that weak tasting American rice. Give me some Asian rice, the kind that clumps together (due to the sugar, sticky rice has quite a bit of sugar in it).
Tonight was the first time I used Mr. Rice this semester. Mr. Rice is a rice cooker, but it's more than that. It not only cooks the rice, but it has the added bonus of keeping the rice warm and moist. I'm just too lazy to use it more often.
Mmmmmm...rice, soy sauce, and pork fu make a good meal.
Trust me.
