I procrastinated, and now I have to spend a lot of time writing an essay for my honors class. The ideas are good, but I inevitably have to go back and cry at my terrible grammar. Although I did just learn today that Ctrl+2 automatically double spaces highlighted text in Word.

At the request of a friend, I'll give a little update on how I'm doing. I've heard that the first rule of LJ is to never post when things are going well. "Well" could mean things are going well are it means you're too busy to keep up with LJ. In the former sense, I'm doing quite well. Besides procrastinated homework and realizing how much work I have to do to score well on the GRE, I finished up watching an anime, Fruits Baskets (darn animes that don't end because the manga goes on). My mysterious suitemate, his skillful girlfriend, and my internet guru suitemate also took some time to relive the good ole days by beating the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the XBox. In the latter sense, I make myself sick.

I've already spread some bitterness on this day, so I'll think I'll tell a happier story. Out of the blue, an old friend IMed me this weekend. We were friends in elementary, sort of friends in junior high, then we kind of lost contact in high school. But one thing that we always remember are the countless games of basketball and horse we played in his driveway. For some reason I've taken to calling him Kevano. To follow my epithet, I'd call him conservative Kevano because that would be an apt description of him. I'm sure he'd be one of the votes that the liberal side of LJ rants about. He happens to be an excellent bass player as well.

For him, I would have the epithet "wise". He was one of the few people to witness me win three straight geography bees at our elementary school, a small but rather impressive feat at the time. Well, he went off about some girl who'd be perfect for him (conservative, plays in the orchestra, fine, etc.). Wait a minute, this guy's asking me for advice on this situation? I don't know, mon ami, people always tell me just to call her up and ask to do something. What if she has a boyfriend already? You don't know now, and you won't even know until you ask. Amazingly, the advice worked. Now he's joined her band and her mom is even inviting him over for dinner with the family.

At least one of my old friends has something to look forward to on this poisonous day.

Despite trying to avoid Valentine's Day, it hit me today in my committee meeting. My junior chair bought everyone in our student senate something, a rose for the girls and a crush grape bottle full of valentine hearts for the guys.

This is the valentine I got:
Most Bitter Senator, thanks for teaching me all about FAC and for your help with allocations. You are awesome, and I really appreciate you.
-Smiles and Sunshine

Thanks. :)

Too bad I don't like those valentine heart candies.

And, of course, I got suckered into buying carnations. An honors society that I'm part of was selling some carnations, so I of course had to buy some. Oh well, I'll put them to good use.
