I took sort of a narrow view on "familiar". There were several more terms that I sorta of know what they are... ...but either wouldn't know how to reproduce them (daguerrotype), or don't really know how to USE them/what they do.

And it won't let me clickly now, but I'd've rated my skills at about a five? Average.

I'm not much of a photographer myself. I did design two websites that are focussed on photography:
- leinligt.nl, featuring ingiechan's art photography;
- KlikTikFix, featuring a photo by ingiechan and a haiku by babarage every day.

I love looking at the photos I did as a behind-the-scenes photographer for a local independent movie I was heavily involved with.

See, I shot two rolls a day (this was in 2000), two days a week, over 10 or 12 weeks.

Every Monday or tuesday, we went over the photos I shot and picked 5 or 6 to put up on the web site I created for them.

When I look back at my album, I'm always amazed at how clear the learning curve is between the weeks - the first week, I had a few good photos almost by chance, and I see dozens of ways I could have easily improved them.

By the time I get to the final week, the difference is vivid - the pictures are saying more, the composition is better, the lighting mattered.

Anyway, it's the process of learning that I find so cool.

I think my most amusing story was when I was trying to take a picture early one morning with a tripod and the exposure was longer then I thought. I thought my mirror had frozen open (it was really cold) so I stuck my head in front of the lens to see if I could see the mirror or not. I didn't... then I did see it as the exposure finished. Bingo, ghost photo of my head.
