Feb. 8th, 2006 03:30 amThe tension between writers and editors
Would an editor rather have a brilliant writer who writes once in a while or a good writer who writers consistenty? I know my fellow comrade, the news editor, is learning the hard way that it's better to have consistent writers. He had to write an article himself after one of his writers backed out on him.
That's what the nature of the pain. You know you have to ask people to write stuff, but if someone backs out then it's the editor's job to write one to make up for it.
*cry*
I wish I had a choice...I have to beg and nag every week to get people to write opinion articles for me. And even then some good mad at me for changing some of their words.
On withdrawing
I'm so lazy. I want to withdraw from my Fundamentals of Modern Math course because the teacher is BORING. The Blue Hen and I have not stayed awake in a single class since the first one. Oh, the prof is so good at putting you to sleep, and it's one of those 75 minute classes. I'll give it to the first test and then I will seriously consider taking the W. You can still withdraw from a class without penalty as long as you aren't failing it. The only thing is that after the first withdraw deadline you will be stuck with a "W" on your transcript that does not count against your GPA. That prospect is a less intimidating when you have a semester full of W's like me.
Braum's fresh marketplace
I got an advertisement that if I brought a coupon upon a purchase from Braum's fresh marketplace, I would get a gift. I had to be in the first 300 though. I shrugged and went there, and bought some biscuits and shredded cheese. The total came out to $5.18. The gift was a $5.00 gift card. That is what I would call a good omen.
Verse of the Day
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
~Romans 12:1-2
Convo of the Day
HV: I think you'll like this song.
Female singer: You look good in high res...
D2: World of Warcraft?
HV: How the **** did you know that?
D2: It's a song from PurePwnage.com.
HV: You spend WAY too much time on the Internet.
Quote of the Day
"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."
~Albert Einstein
Link of the Day
Apple's new I-candy.
Sports Report
Get over it, Seahawks fans. Steelers won fair and square.
Guitar Heroes
Okay, I have to get this game now.
Random encounter
So I was walking to BSU Momentum today and ran into a guy looking lost. He stopped me and asked for directions to Sharp Chapel. It wasn't too far out of my way so I walked him there. He turned out to be the RUF speaker for the night. If my memory serves me correctly, his name was Ricky.
Random encounter number two
I randomly ran into Nancy Pilkington, the National Merit Recruiter for the University of Tulsa. She stopped me to say that she loved my article. Which one? The one about depression from the first issue of the semester. Apparently, it still gives her goosebumps.
Curiosity Question
Do actions really speak louder than words? Cause if you looked at politics...

While it is possible that the Steelers could have still won had those bad calls not been made, they will - for some - remain a cloud over an otherwise amazing championship run.
