Happy Birthday!
Happy Bday to the Marathon Man, even if he doesn't read my blogs.

Talk to your professors
So, I kind of didn't do this one essay because I got swamped by student government stuff at the last minutes and instead of being a good steward of my time I kind of went to sleep instead of doing my essay. This prof had a "NO LATE PAPERS" in his syllabus so I didn't even bother trying to finish the essay. He talked to me in class today and said just to go ahead and turn stuff in because stuff happens. I guess I should talk to my professors more instead of assuming too much!

I forget I'm not a senator
Even the Vice President struggles not to address me as "Senator" Tu instead of "Justice" Tu. The problem is I forget too and try to do stuff that I don't have the privilege of doing. Stupid parli pro.

My apartment got cleaned
My scheming roommate's girlfriend cleaned up the living area of my apartment. It all made sense when I learned her mom and sis were coming over and her mom was likely to visit my apartment.

Verse of the Day
"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."
~Ephesians 5:18

Convo of the Day
D2: Do you know what the quickest way is to find out if someone is reading your blog?
PC: No, what's that?
D2: Write about them.

Quote of the Day
"If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things."
~Rene Descartes

Link of the Day
Glitter defiant at child abuse.
The girls' families wrote to the court in December, asking for the charges to be dropped after Gadd paid them $2,000 each.

Prosecutors, however, decided to proceed with the case. Under Vietnamese law, payments are considered "compensation" that counts towards lessening any sentence.

Sports Report
TU's Senior night is this Saturday at 7pm. All my Golden Hurricane readers should come out and support the team for the last home game this season. These seniors played the last time we went dancing, so let's give them one last home game to remember!

Dr. Strangelove
Fine, I'll watch the movie...

Editor-in-chief
I will be applying to be editor-in-chief next year for The Collegian, TU's campus newspaper. Wish me luck!

Random question
Considering that we are talking about a campus newspaper for the small university of 4000 overall students, how often should editors have to write?

Always talk to your professors. Most of us teacher types put statements in the syllabus primarily to fend off most non-emergency cases of the slack. But many teachers and professors are flexible. It just sucks when you have stuff trickling in from a number of people--it leads to lost papers and such.

Yeah, I guess being known as one of the more involved students in the department helps too.

Yes. Always talk to your professors. Talk to them when you're having trouble. Talk to them when you have questions. Talk to them about your paper topic to make sure they thing it'll be okay. Talk to them when you see an interesting book or article that you think they might like. Talk to them when you're researching something in their field and you think they could recommend a good book to you. The golden lesson I learned in college, the lesson that left me with a good relationship with all but two of my teachers, was that the best way to establish a good working relationship with teachers is to make sure they see that you're interested in the subject and that you're really willing to do the work and you're not trying to get out of giving it as much as you need to give.

And you know, they're surprisingly cool once you get to know them.
