My first letter to the editor
Sep. 27th, 2004 08:44 pmI got my first letter to the editor in my college newspaper today.
(WARNING: The follow link is a huge pdf file. Clicking it may crash your computer.)
Most recent issue of my college newspaper.
Basically, the guy argues against the premise of my second published article, in which I put forth the idea that faith is important for our nation's leader.
He's wrong, I'm right.

Date: 2004-09-28 06:07 am (UTC)On a personal note, I hate how much of politics is embroiled in faith... because I, who... I can't even describe what I am without spending a few good paragraphs on my entire belief system before going on to say that I believe in the Self as a diety without just sounding crazy and egotistical... I can never be elected. Even by just proffessing agnosticism it wouldn't work out. I don't think they'd look too kindly on my occasional pagan rituals, either. And I love politics. I think I'd be a good leader... and I think keeping religious beliefs separate from politics is paramount to making decisions that benefit the nation as a whole.
I still have morals, though. They may be a little more ambiguous than most... but I still have morals. Christian =! (does not equal) morality.
I agree with what that guy says: religion shouldn't get involved. At all. It does, and that's bad, but it shouldn't.
