I got my first letter to the editor in my college newspaper today.

(WARNING: The follow link is a huge pdf file. Clicking it may crash your computer.)
Most recent issue of my college newspaper.

Basically, the guy argues against the premise of my second published article, in which I put forth the idea that faith is important for our nation's leader.

He's wrong, I'm right.

I went through the newspaper. Very nice. You guys do a bang up job of putting together what is, and should be, "student literature." Nice picture, by the way.

I've never unfriended someone for the content of their writing, as opposed to the quality... but I guess you're the first.

There's a first time for everything.

May I ask, though, specifically about what my content do you not like? I'm just curious since I'm seeking to improve my writing in both content and style.

I pretty much disagree with your article and agree with the letter to the editor guy. You did kind of go off-topic there... and he does make a lot of good points. I'm not really sure what your argument is, though... and everything is an argument. If you're saying that we should consider the religion of our politicians before we make decisions about them, I strongly disagree. If you're saying that religion does play a part in people's choices, whether or not that's a good thing (your thesis implies this, but you really lose it towards the end of the article), that's undeniable. If you're saying that everyone naturally gravitates toward religion, again I disagree. If you're saying that religion always requires a commitment of time and money, I disagree.

On a personal note, I hate how much of politics is embroiled in faith... because I, who... I can't even describe what I am without spending a few good paragraphs on my entire belief system before going on to say that I believe in the Self as a diety without just sounding crazy and egotistical... I can never be elected. Even by just proffessing agnosticism it wouldn't work out. I don't think they'd look too kindly on my occasional pagan rituals, either. And I love politics. I think I'd be a good leader... and I think keeping religious beliefs separate from politics is paramount to making decisions that benefit the nation as a whole.

I still have morals, though. They may be a little more ambiguous than most... but I still have morals. Christian =! (does not equal) morality.

I agree with what that guy says: religion shouldn't get involved. At all. It does, and that's bad, but it shouldn't.
