In lieu of a Friday Five poll, I've decided to try my hand at creating a meme. I dunno, it's just something that came to me. Something that came to mind is that we often friend people on LJ because we like reading them, even if we've never met in real life. So, I'd say choose five friends from you LJ that you've never met and explain why you would want to meet them. On the off chance you don't have such five friends, maybe do some that you'd like to meet again or someone you haven't interacted a long time in real life. If you like this idea, then spread the virus.
My list of people on my friends list that I would like to meet someday:
1.
theferrett and
zoethe. Yeah, I'm cheating and putting them both in one slot. But, they are married and One Flesh after all. Anyways, Ferrett-sensei taught me how to write for an audience and he randomly published my articles on Star City back in the day when they accepted submissions from scrubs. He has a good sense of who he is, even his flaws, and it was in reading those stories that I decided to join LJ and try to emulate that myself. Mrs. Ferrett is much of the same, someone who helps focus my writing when I ask her. I think we would have a fascinating conversation at some convention for Home on the Strange, wherein I could learn about the nuances of deeper fandoms.
2.
kimmaline. K is an awesome person, period. I believe we met when she commented on one of my political posts that she stumbled onto following a comment I made on Ferrett-sensei's LJ. We haven't always agreed in politics or even how to live one's life, but we have a deep mutual respect for each other. I'd imagine we'd have a good time watching an Oakland A's-Pittsburgh Pirates interleague game, with the Pirates prevailing in the end.
3.
bonerici. I admit I was a bit fanboyish adding edt to my reading list, since I had read some of his old articles on the Dojo. I recall seeing him comment on Ferrett-sensei's LJ and thinking that this guy looks like some guy I've seen in Magic coverage. To my surprise, the dinosaur edt ended up adding me back and he's helped me see from a more scientific point of view. Plus, he seems to have an unusual penchant for cooking so I'd surmise we'd have a nice philosophical discussion over a scrumptous dinner that he made.
4.
stella_x3x3. Hmmm, I actually don't remember why I started reading her, but I do remember that she used eye-gougingly terrible grammar in her LJ. I'm going to guess she read one of my comments on Ferrett-sensei's LJ and followed me here, whereupon I looked at her LJ and added her back on a whim. She humors me by calling me D2-sempai. I could see us hashing out religious comments at a coffee shop.
5.
visgoth and
stealthcomic. Yeah, I cheated again. You know what that means. Not exactly sure how we got to know each other, but the most likely source is again Ferrett-sensei. Since they live near Washington, D.C., I've always found it interesting to hear their views on the politics of the country. Mrs. Clownfish has always encouraged me to go into teaching, especially as a rare minority male teaching history. It'd only be fitting for us to discuss politics on a tour of D.C.
You know, after writing this, I've begun to realize that over half of my friendslist was due in some part to Ferrett-sensei. I wonder if people checking my LJ profile saw that Ferrett-sensei was one of my mutual friends and said, "Hey, The Ferrett reads this guy, he must have something interesting to say, so I'll add him, too!" Because it certainly wasn't due to my ramblings.
