I want to try to make a new semi-regular feature to my blog, something I will call D2's "Tuesday's Two Sentences". I happen to believe that all political/religious views can be summed up in two sentences. If you can't pare it down to two sentences, you don't really know what you believe. Which is fine, perhaps this exercise in reductionist theory will help you discover what you believe.

The Rules:
1. Comment with two sentences that define your position on the matter.
2. If you feel the dire need to explain those two sentences, bold the two sentences that define your position. I will summarily delete all comments that do not follow this rule.
3. If you have a question about someone's two sentences, comment and ask! But ask nicely, or I will summarily delete your comment.
4. If you can get it one sentence, more power to you! ^_^
5. I reserve the right to delete any comment that I feel breaks the spirit of this exercise.

Of course, I'll always start off. Since we've already done same-sex marriage, it's time to hit another big one. What's your position on abortion?

"I believe that life is precious, but it is untenable to make this issue black-and-white. The shades of grey insist that we judge on a case-by-case basis, not an inflexible law."

I believe D2 has nailed it squarely.

I believe that life begins at conception and so any abortion is murder. In view of this, circumstances must be truly extreme, life or death type stuff before even considering abortion.

Out of curiosity, doesn't the fact that, regardless of life, the baby/fetus is almost like a tumor or a parasite and therefore incapable of surviving outside its "host", mean that the mother has all powers of life or death over it? Or does life always trump choice?

By that argument I should be able to abort my children all the way up until they get a job and move out of my house. "Choice" is an interesting euphemism for murder. Yes, I think that allowing a baby to be born should trump killing it. I don't think that "choice-ing" an unborn baby should even be an option unless the life of the mother is in danger.

I don't quite agree with you, but I respect your opinion [that, and D2-Sempai probably isn't looking for a full-scale debate :) ], so I guess we'll leave it at that. Thanks for clarifying.

I believe abortion is not correct, but is not under the jurisdiction of the federal government, as it is a routine law enforcement matter. The federal government's primary responsibilty is protecting us from foreign enemies.

Very well written two sentences! ^_^

I have never been in a position where abortion was an option for me. Just because it is an option for someone else doesn't mean I have any right to impose my opinions/judgments on someone else's decision that does not involve me.

Personally, I'm pro-life, but politically, I'm pro-choice. I don't like abortion, and I hope that any woman I get pregnant (accidentally or otherwise) will choose to have the baby, but I refuse to tell other people what to do wit their bodies, even though they should have thought to use protection when it mattered (except in those rape cases where, you know, some things just aren't an option).

These two sentences run on (there are too many thoughts), they could be simplified, and they don't need to be so fearful of what other people think, then again that's why you're Ford-kouhei, wait, I think D2 may just be facetiously running on his thoughts now! ^_^

Yeah, I know. Need to work on that.

Better?

People don't have a fundamental right to an opinion. They have to fight for it every second of their lives.

Murder, abortion, whether its the same or not people deserve to make their own decisions. Law is bullshit, choice is freedom.

LOL, your second sentence is eminently quotable. I suggest putting it on your Facebook profile!

I believe in the right of every individual to choose but it is the responsibility of the facilitator in every choice to make certain that the consequences and repercussions of that choice are understood by the chooser. The social and physical consequences of abortion are so slight that we can afford to allow the decision to pass entirely into the hands of the people involved.

Always legal in cases were the health of the mother is at risk. In other cases illigal after 21 weeks since conception for combined reasons of the increased risk to the health of the mother and the increased development of the child.
