Mar. 15th, 2005 02:16 pmHave you ever felt like you forgot why you were doing something? Did you ever remember why you were doing it in the first place?
----------------------------
Well, tomorrow I'll be leaving for Lubbock, Texas to attend the Fifth Triennial Symposium. I won't be back until Sunday. I'm be doing a presentation on "Ngo Dinh Diem and American Imperialism." It'll be fun. I'm looking to make some contacts for my senior honors project. Plus, my parents will be coming with me and I hardly ever spend time with them. It may not be out of hand to say they're more excited than I am about this trip, and I'm pretty stoked about going.
----------------------------
March Madness "starts" today with the play in game, for all the college basketball fans. Like I said in my phone post, I have no clue who's going to win this year. I decided to go with regional preference and root for Oklahoma State. My other final four picks are Wake, UNC, and Duke. OK State over Duke in the finals, 82-80. I'm also a bit of a romantic as I have Roy Williams versus Bill Self in their regional final, and another Kentucky-Duke regional final.
Crazy upset specials:
13th seeded Penn over BC. Dunno, BC faltered too much down the stretch for my liking.
11th seeded UAB over LSU and over Arizona to get to the sweet sixteen. I grew up with the constant pressing style of Nolan Richardson, and Mike Anderson was one of his disciples.
Eighth seeded Pacific over Washington in the second round. Pacific knocked off Providence last year, so if they're shooting well they can bet Washington.
12th seeded George Washington over Georgia Tech. I should probably change this, but I told myself that I would pick GWU over anybody when they won the Atlantic 10.
12th seeded New Mexico over Villanova. A lot of people are taking about how Nova is a hot team. They're probably right (like I said, I have no clue who to pick).
12th seeded Old Dominion over Michigan State. I like the twelve seed too much.
13th seeded Vermont over Syracuse, and past Old Dominion into the sweet 16. All star senior guy plus a coach in his final year.
----------------------------
I pray for my university's allocations process daily.
----------------------------
As soon as I get back, it's campaign time. Speaking of which, I should finish that executive application soon.
