There's been an apocalypse. [livejournal.com profile] theferrett asks If you could save one book for future generations, and only one book, what one book would you save? (I must say there are a lot of comments to this entry). I chose Romance of the Three Kingdoms for a little Eastern flavor.

Jose Mesa has had to save all eight of the Pirates wins. The Pirates cannot come from behind, and they need a dominant performance from their starters (which they have few of). Sigh.

I dressed up as a mobster along with the rest of the guys for the end of the year BSU Jar Wars Dinner. The guys will not lose next year, that I do guarantee.

I can't believe there are three seasons of Slayers. Three. And yet I will eventually watch them all at some point.

Do you know what tomorrow is? In the video game Metal Gear Solid 2, Raiden's girlfriend keeps asking him "Do you know what today is?" That day turned out to be April 30th.

Tomorrow is April 30th. It holds a special meaning for me. Just think back thirty years and you'll figure it out.

So in my student senate, they passed a resolution requesting the administration to add specific language to indicate that The University of Tulsa does not discriminate against gays or lesbians. How does this affect me? I'm really not sure, but one of the senators spearheading the resolution asked me to write a letter in support. Might as well back up a resolution with actual student input, right? That being said, the best I could come up with was a short and general letter:

Dear President Upham,

Recently, the Student Senate passed a resolution to specifically include sexual discrimination under TU’s nondiscrimination policy. I would like to include my support for this resolution as a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries. While it may be politically safer for the university to avoid such an issue, I believe in the long run the university will benefit by continuing to attract high caliber students. TU will be able to advance its goal of diversity while encouraging an atmosphere of equality. I hope that the administration will carefully consider these words along with those of my peers.
