Politics requires compromise
Compromising doesn't mean giving up your values. It means giving a little to get a little in the interest of using our intelligence.

Suncoast has 5 days left
50% off sure clears up their aisles. Of course, they still have a gazillion seinfeld seasons left.

What we expect becomes a self fulfilling prophecy
From my Foundations of Education class: We are who we expect we are. If we believe we are instrumental to teaching our students, we will be. If we don't believe that is the case, then we will not be so.

Verse of the Day
"Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and proclaim to her
that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the LORD's hand
double for all her sins."
~Isaiah 40:2

Convos of the Day
D2: Would you prefer me to quit calling Andre the Italian Stallion?
L: Somehow, I don't think it's my choice.

Quote of the Day
"This is a court of law, young man, not a court of justice."
~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

Link of the Day
Apple fights Apple. Apple chomps...Apple?

Cheer for the Underdog
George Mason will receive the underdog cheering. Will it feel like homecourt advantage?

Rent Soundtrack
I rather like the music of Jonathan Larson.

Cookie cake
I'm such a sucker for cookie cakes.

I just took the online Jeopardy test...I don't think I'll get a passing score because I kept remembering answers after the fifteen second timer went off.

In other news, I didn't get the editor-in-chief job for my campus newspaper but I'll be sticking around as Opinion Editor. Which will actually work out for me since this fall is an election year so I surmise it will be a rather interesting time to be the Opinion Editor.

I woke up at 6:00am to tap people for the senior honors society. We find people at their apartments and in the classes, singing a song and all this other mumbo jumbo. It's sort of funny when people aren't there because they skipped class. For one young lady, we had to find her at her apartment. Her roommate informed us that she was taking a shower...whereupon the thirty of us doing tapping simply barged in and knocked on the shower door, much to her bewilderment. ^_^

Also, I'm going to apply to be a tutor for the "Gear Up" program here in Tulsa. If I am accepted, they'll pay me to tutor sixth and seventh grade math and science. You might think this is a problem since I'm a history major, but this is where my first two years spent as an electrical engineering major will come in handy.

One last note, at dinner tonight I ran into two more rabid Firefly fans. One of them, [livejournal.com profile] leepmeister, has TWO copies of the complete collection. One is for him to watch while the other is to loan out to people (looks like I'm eventually going to have to watch this Firefly phenomenon). Oh, and he has another set at home that's technically his but his sister watches that one.
