Beer.

My favorite beer story is really long, but it ended up with us getting stopped at the front gate trying to get back on base, with our designated driver[1] doing horrible on a field sobriety test (because he was nervous) while a carload of drunken idiots yelled at him in Ren[2] voices "YOU EEDEEOT! DO WHAT THE MAN SAYS!"

Then our first sergeant just happened to come through the gate heading back on base himself. At first he was furious that one of his guys was getting a DUI, until he found out everything was fine and our driver was sober.

[1] We used real designated drivers, not the fake "only a couple beers designated drivers," so he didn't drink at all that night.

I say soda and pop, though pop more often. If I want to irritate a soda/pop purist (or anyone, really) I say "sody pop" or, on rare occasions, sarsparilla.

Tonic water with lime. Several of Boylan's Natural sodas (black cherry, cola and birth beer). Passover Coke. The new Pepsi Throwback is good. I loved Pepsi Holiday Spice, which is doubtless gone forever. Oh, and "italian" sodas; the local grocery store has a good line of them in sicilian lemon, blood orange and sour cherry lemon.

I love cherry and vanilla Cokes. Regular Coke (screw diet anything).

I refer to them generally as "drinks", actually, but usually "coke" unless there would be confusion because there's actually Coke in the fridge and I want something else, in which case I'll go by flavor or title.

Our local store has PC brand pomegranate drink, which is the best thing ever. Also sparkling lemonade.

When I worked concessions for a movie theater, I could always tell when people were from out of town. I'd ask them, "Would you like a coke with that?" The out of town folk would invariably say, "No, I'd like a Sprite."

I don't drink soda. When I used to, it was almost always Mountain Dew. I stopped because it's not great for your voice (sugar + caffeine = bad) and it's been so long that I actually have problems drinking soda now. I can still manage Sprite sometimes, but I get so burpy it isn't really worth it.

Mostly I drink water. Sometimes juice, and when I'm eating desserty things, milk, but generally just water.

I usually have Ginger Ale when I'm up for something fizzy. Cream Soda if I want something sweeter. Otherwise, I stick with tea or chocolate milk. (Tea~~)

Besides Coke and Root Beer (favorite: A&W), I have a love of Code Red Mountain Dew (I HATE regular Mountain Dew but love me some cherry soda).

I once drank about 15 Cokes/Pepsis in the span of 4 hours, first at lunch at Pizza Hut then I walked across the parking lot to a TGIFridays to watch a football game.

Generally when watching football or UFC I practically guzzle beverages. Even if I liked beer (I hate the taste), my wallet and my sobriety would probably not get along with it and I cite the above incident as an example. Nowadays I will often drink water or switch to water after a few sodas just because I know drinking that much of anything else isn't good for me.

I try to limit myself to one can of coke a day. Some days are more successful than others.
