I'm thirsty
Nov. 11th, 2004 12:12 pmThe Muslim Student Association is hosting a Ramadan Fast-a-Thon today. For every non-Muslim student who fasts, one of their sponsors is willing to put in a dollar towards a Tulsa food bank. From 5:30am to 5:19pm today, I will not partake in any food, liquid, or conjugal relations. I also will be on a more positive behavior today (yes, the confident pessimist will not be pessimistic today).
At 5:20pm, they'll be hosting a cultural dinner to break the fast. They'll be opening up the newly built mosque on campus (they claim it's the first mosque built on an American college campus, but I'm not sure about that). I think it'll be interesting to see what they have. It'll be also good to show Christ's love to my fellow students and community.
I had planned to wake up early to at least get some Pop Tarts and milk before sunrise, but I got owned by my absentmindednes. I set my alarm for five o'clock but I forgot to turn it on. Whoops.
And you know, the food part isn't so bad. I've gone more than 12 hours without food when I've been rushed during the school year. It's the no liquid part that's tough.
I'm thirsty.
