I was in the middle of the Steelers-Giants (Go Steelers!) game yesterday when I received a phone call. Some of my ole high school crew called me up to watch extended LOTR. Which would have been awesome, except for the fact that it was at two o'clock in the afternoon and we wouldn't have been done until three or four. Seeing as how some people had church, we nixed that idea. And we can't watch it until after Christmas because one of them is going to see his parents in Knoxville. Sigh, the back-to-back-to-back session must wait.

Eventually, I got myself dressed and went to the apartment of dramatic Jameson and anime-obsessed Mike. My first question upon walking into their apartment was, "When was the last time you two cleaned up this place?" In the five months they've had the apartment, they've cleaned once. Once. And that was because fruit flies were flying about fifteen pizza boxes and three open trash bags. And these guys are currently out of a job

My first impression of World of Warcraft: Absolutely gorgeous. Andy's shaman looked really cool. It almost makes me want to get over my fear of the timesuck of mmorpgs's.

Savage, an interesting cross between first person shooters and real time strategy, was introduced to me. It's apparently freeware now. You have humans against the beasts, each with one commander who can survey the battlefield like you would in Command & Conquer or Starcraft. The commander builds tech and directs the overall strategy. Meanwhile, the rest of the team has a first person view of the battlefield, receiving commands from these beams of light from the sky. The rest of the team can't see what the commander sees, so cooperation is the key to winning.

We ended up deciding to rent a movie for the night. The problem is picking a movie that we all haven't seen but that we want to see (which doesn't happen). It boils down to one person agreeing to watch a movie they've already seen. Yesterday's choice was Shaolin Soccer. It took us an hour to decide on that, but it was a good thing because Maph, the army man, had just returned home for his leave before he gets shipped off to Iraq.

If you like martial arts humor, you'll love Shaolin Soccer. Otherwise, you'll just be rolling your eyes. It's worth the rent for one particular scene in the movie (and there's only one way to find out what it is).

Tell Maph I said Thanks for serving and that I wish him and his fellows a safe return home.
