The army man speaks truth
Dec. 21st, 2004 02:23 pmI hung out with the army man, the enigmatic Maph, yesterday. He went out and bought an aqua green Aveo, which he will be paying off during his time in Iraq. I remember him saying he'll be stationed in Taji or something like that.
We did two of our usual traditions. First, we ate at Waffle House, bringing back the good ole times that we'd eat there after working at the movie theater. Then we went swinging at a nearby elementary school, under the stars and half moon. It had only been three years prior that we had been talking about what we wanted to do for college. And now look at us, an army man and a hopeful history professor. A certain part of the conversation was memorable.
Maph: I know what your problem is.
Me: Oh really?
Maph: You have the same problem I do.
Me: And what exactly is that?
Maph: You need a chick.
Me: ...
Usually, I can argue with him about anything. But when the army man speaks truth, he speaks truth.
