How to make a friend sad

Apologies for not writing more, but writing about how much you don't feel like writing usually isn't very interesting. But in the meantime let me share a random conversation.

Me: This sounds familiar.
J: Uh...you don't know who this is?
Me: No, but it sounds kind of cool.
J: Dude, it's Magical Mystery Tour. Magical Mystery Tour!
(five seconds pass)
Me: Okay.
J: C'mon man, Beatles! Then again, I guess I would have the same blank look on my face if you mentioned some world event.
Me: Like Darfur?
J: Yeah, like that.

I think that we should require people to be able to give a three-sentence description on what is going on in Darfur before they are allowed to get gas.

It SHOCKS me how little people know about what's going on in this world.
