I’ve turned off anonymous comments for the time being. I just want to know who I am talking right now.

Random observations
Apparently, the dark, deep pit that I am stuck in—I dug it myself. How ironic.

You know how I know my hometown of Ft. Smith, Arkansas is a small place? Father John and I go out to meet the blonde bombshell Tearsa and the irreverent Trae at Sweet Bay Coffee House. When John and I walk in, I catch a girl waving her hand excitedly in my peripheral vision. It’s Chelsea from the old high school days! And Erin! And Courtney! And Lee! Coincidence. It was a very fortuitous meeting, a good omen.

I’m good at spelling the words in the Cranium game.

Convo of the Day
Trae: I go to this trivia thing every week at the local pub. It’s pretty cool. They ask fifteen questions week on a random topic.
John: Sounds like a lot of fun.
Trae: Yeah, but people know some weird sh*t man.
Tearsa: Like what?
Trae: Okay, this one week, the topic was sex. They asked this freaking weird question about a bunch of guys ejaculating on a woman’s face…
D2: Bukkake?
Trae: Yeah, bukkake…[looks incredulously at D2] wait, how the hell do you know that?
D2: I’m Asian. I know everything.

Quotes of the Day
“How do you hide arrogance? With humility. How do you hide humility? With arrogance.” -Zhuge Liang

“Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.” -Benjamin Franklin, statesman, inventor

Links of the Day
Ferrett-sensei talks about rules of debate on his journal. Most of those rules apply on my journal, too.

Mrs. Ferrett talks about what people are realy asking for when they ask for advice. Enabling solutions.

Sports theory
So, at Arkansas, they hired an offensive coordinator from Springdale High School named Guz Malzahn. This is a big deal to Razorback fans because Malzahn coached a high school QB named Mustain. Mustain had committed to go to Arkansas, but he backed off when Charlie Weis and Notre Dame came calling. I’d go to Notre Dame personally. Then again, Malzahn will open up Houston Nutt’s run first offense and give Mustain a chance to shine. Whenever Frank Broyles dies, Nutt can become the athletic director and Malzahn can become the coach of the Razorbacks he always dreamed of becoming.

Narnia review
The animation of Aslan is amazing. Beware the Christian overtones.

Anime review
Elfen Lied has the bloodiest first episode ever. But lucky Andy says it gets better, so I will trust him.

Cooking question
So, I've decided to try to make Turkey Chili for at six to eight people. Any words of advice? Also, any recommendation on side dishes?

Advice: Real chili doesn't involve beans. Or ground beef. Or turkey.

Two out of three ain't bad.

I'm afraid I'm not ready to cook real chili yet.

You must have white rice if you are going to be serving chili. I don't like chili though...so if I were there, I would not eat. =P

I've never heard of serving chili with white rice. Then again, I've rarely been bothered to cook...

"Narnia review

"Christian overtones"? Both the original novels and the movies are being made expressly Christian. C.S. Lewis was one of the most famous and successful Christian authors in recent history. (Debates about whether or not Lord of the Rings counts, since it was made as a part of the same bet/source of inspiration as Narnia.)

Forgive me if I completely missed understatement or sarcasm. The internet is terrible for relaying such things. *Hangs head*

Let me help you.

Beware the Christian overtones *WINK WINK*.

I hate Internet tone.

(If there's a straight interpration and a sarcastic interpretation, just go with the one that makes me look smarter.)

What we need is a sublte, yet non-emoticon based system of expressing ourselves online.

I don't think we'll ever get it so long as AOL exists. Oh, well.

Correction.

You're Asian. You invented bukkake. ;)

You need some sort of hearty bread and grated cheese. I use homemade 12 grain, but store bought will be ok as long as it is the thick sliced kind. Grated colby jack should be ok. :)

Grated colby jack. Grated colby jack. Grated colby jack. Okay, I think my eidetic memory can pick up the good stuff after having repeated it three times.

Also, I am totally ignorant when it comes to cooking. What's the difference between "hearty bread" and the normal white bread I use for sandwhiches?

White bread is wimpy. Get a bread with flavor--preferably whole grain with nuts and seeds, cut into nice, thick slices...

Mmm... bread.

Hearty bread is brown and usually not fluffy. It's coarser. Look for something called an "artisan bread".
