By special request of the very special (in a good way) [livejournal.com profile] zarhooie, I will be cutting all Convos of the Day from now on.

Narnia trivia
Pevensie is an anagram for pensieve.

One hundred user icons
I am currently at 100 of 100 icons, although I am happy with only sixty of them. I just felt like filling the rest of the space though, as it is only human to do so.

Convo of the Day

Kat: That's right, you're a stupid Republican.
D2: Well then, are you a dumb Democrat?
Kat: No, we're the smart ones.
D2: That's the problem.

Kat: You know, you'd make a great husband for a lucky girl some day.
D2: Why would you say that?
Kat: Because you don't always have to be right.
D2: Just because I say you're right doesn't actually mean I think you're right.
Kat: Exactly. You're good at telling people what they want to hear.

Kat: You know, you misquote a lot of people.
D2: You've never read Thucydides have you.
Kat: Nope.
D2: Thucydides "recorded" a bunch of speeches, but he never wrote them dowm verbatim. Instead, he wrote down what they were really saying.

Jameson: I was wrong before. I thought she was your Faye to your Spike, but now I see that she's Asuka.
D2: So I'm Shinji Ikari now?
Jameson: Yep.
D2: Thanks for making me into a loser.

Quote of the Day
“If people take the trouble to cook, you should take the trouble to eat.”
~Robert Morley

Link of the Day
You can make a South Park icon by going to South Park Studio (thanks [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody_98).

Sports Report
So I just lost quite a few points in my bowl pick em when Nebraska beat Michigan. How upsetting.

And it's sort of awkward for the No. 5 team in the nation to play in the Holiday Bowl. There are still things messed up about the BCS.

FFXII demo
Lucky Andy got a preview demo of FFXII when he got Dragon Quest 8 for Xmas. Final Fantasy fans, rejoice!

On meal planning
Kat said corn goes well with potatoes.

A silly explanation
Are shepherds much greater than their sheep? Sure, if that shepherd is Jesus Christ. But if it's a mere human shepherd guiding a human flock, maybe not. So you could say that there really isn't enough to determine whether the shepherd is greater than the sheep.

But, those who went ahead and voted yes and no are leaders because they're willing to take risks. The rest of you hedge your bets and wait, so you are more followers than leaders. Is this a perfect explanation? Of course not, but this is one of those random psychological things of asking a silly question. You can interpret the results a number of ways and still be right.

Curiosity question
Do atheists have a holiday?

Either that or we got annoyed by the fact that pictures hosted on Photobucket kept showing up with little red xes and we weren't at all sure what the poll was about.

Here's a question for you: If the shepherd lives in his sheep, how can you say that one is greater than the other?

But, those who went ahead and voted yes and no are leaders...

Nonsense. Acting on insufficient information does not make a person a leader unless there is a pressing need to make a decision immediately.

Personally, as someone who IS a follower, I would not follow a leader who rushed headlong into a situation without pausing to get all of the facts, or who jumped to conclusions when there wasn't enough information to decide rationally. I know I'm a minority, most people are stupid and just want someone charismatic and don't CARE whether said person has a clue. But I'd like to point out that there are followers who prefer that their leaders be informed and who, in fact, will not follow those who are not.

Personally, I think that if more followers were so discerning, the world would be led by fewer crazy people and idiots. But that's just me.

I am partial to the 4th of July myself. I like to call it "Let's set some shit on fire and eat BBQ day".

Although I celebrate lots of holidays that are considered religious. Christmas being one of them. To me it is a day to get together with family and show your appreciation....and get presents. *laugh*

For me it isn't about religion. It is part of the culture I grew up in. Besides I think of Santa Claus not Jesus when I think of Christmas. Someone joked that they celebrate Giftmas every year.

Now if you are asking if there is a holiday specifically for Athiests then I do not know of one. I supose I could go around every day that isn't a religious holiday and greet everyone with Happy Non-Holiday! That would be silly though. Maybe we should claim "Talk Like a Pirate Day".

Oh man...curiosity led me to Google and I found all the sites with people wanting to create an Athiest Holiday.

Psychology is a science. There are no random questions and no hand-waving interpretations in science. Therefore, your question was not a psychological question -- more of a 'folk-psychology' question.

Do atheists have a holiday?
The Dutch term is 'vakantie', and while many christian holy days are vakantie-days, the reverse is not necessarily true.
I have vakantie, which is good enough for me. :)
