I indeed know people who met their SO online, but I only know these people online. So I don't *really* know them I guess, they're not people I chat with regularly either.
As for the absurdities on the net : some people will rather believe what a website tells them, even if IRL they experience that it isn't true. But because it's on the net ( which replaces the age-old adagio "if it's printed, it's true" ) they will still claim that's not how it goes.
