RIP Coventry Arabica It wasn't just a coffee house; it was a way of life. Now the only thing left at coffee houses.. ... is coffee. (so i'm not filling out your poll) The closest thing I've ever experienced to to a full-on July night at Coventry is... A Buckeye Lakes Dead Show parking lot Reed College's (in Portland, OR) End of year party Rennfair Harvard square in Boston had a lot of it's elements also, but I was only in Boston for, like, 20 minutes. but all of these are on a much grander scale than Coventry Arabica
Although the café in Berlin whose name translates as "Any given August saturday afternoon" is pretty close but doesn't have the critical courtyard.
A story? You want a story. umm gosh what's safe.. ooh the very first time I went to coventry with out planning to meet anyone there I ending up drinking a case Cobra (cheap beer) with a bunch of seriously Punk Rock kids in the back of some beat up big green car parked in the school lot across the street in a snowstorm. Once they all decided to leave to go wherever they were going I hoofed it down the block to crash at the middle-aged crazy lady on SSI's apartment. You laways met the most interesting people...
whoa! hey! that's coventry aRABica as in the type of coffee that isn't robusta. Although we awlays mis pronounced it a-rå-bi-ca (2nd syl. stressed) when referring to the coffee shop and note the bean.
Anyway, corner of Euclid hts and Coventry, cleveland Hts. OH 44106
The last time I was in a coffeeshop was when I still was a student and tagged along with a friend of mine who was going to buy some weed. That guy is now my boss, by the way.
Or maybe that time some 16-year old dude thought we were mighty cool because we were students, and so he invited to come to some coffeeshop with him and smoke some weed was after that...
Whatever you do, when you go into a coffeeshop in the Netherlands, don't order the cake.
I always go the 24 hr SB on Anderson LN... and MollyBlack, I love Mozarts! I wish they were opened 24 hrs! It's cool to know there's someone else on here that lives in Austin. :D
Oh' and I usually go for the entire night shift at SB (9pm-5:30am).
