I don't read HP, but it's my birthday weekend.

Actually, my sister has the first six books in hardcover and should have gotten the seventh one by now. She's lent me the first two and I read a few chapters of the first book. In my humble opinion, it was interesting, but not "OMG I HAVE TO DROP EVERYTHING AND READ THIS BOOK" good.

I may just wait for the movies...

Haha, well of course you weren't very compelled by the first few chapters of the very first book. You have to get past all the chapters of how it all starts. I'm telling you, it gets better and better from there.

I'm sure it does, but if a book can't hook me within the first few chapters, it'll be a book that I'll have to read very slowly if at all. When I read for leisure, I prefer books that make me think. Rowling is very good with her descriptions and such but it's not my cup of tea with regards to literature.
