1. What are you afraid of?
Spiders, heights, my own blood. Generally things I don't want to see I subconsciously fear, and those are the first three that come to mind.

2. What's your favorite quote & why?
"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible: the fear of failure." This is a line from Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, a book that changed my life. After reading this book, I asked myself what I would do if I didn't fear failure. I found out that I wanted to teach history, and that's what I'm going to do.

3. How would your friends describe you to other people?
Well, I'd check my Favorite Quotes and About Me section on my Facebook, as that's a bunch of quotes that tell you who I am. Given that my friends call me both pessimistic yet charismatic, I suppose my friends as a whole would describe me as a walking mass of contradictions! ^_^

4. Do you have any pet peeves? What are they?
Yes, painfully peppy people. Come to think of it, I also phear painfully peppy people.

5. Do you still talk to your childhood best friend?
Yes, I still talk with a guy that I've known since kindergarten. I don't talk to him regularly due to the fact that he's in seminary school now but we always try to catch up whenever possible. The one time he stopped in for the summer we had a nice chat.

If you'd like me to interview you:

1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your current favorite song, or your favorite kind of sandwich, maybe your favorite game. Any remark, meaningless or not.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

1a. The general apathy of the populace. People don't care enough about anything, not even their own lives.
1b. Another nation would invade us. One of the signature problems of an anarchist nation is its lack of an organized military force. Minutemen will not defend against a modern military force.
1c. Nuclear weapons. I'm not sure what can be done about these, but it seems clear to me that weapons of such immense destruction must be controlled by more than an individual. A major paradox.
2a. I remember one draft in the Kamigawa block, there is an arrogant, nasty player in our environment who had won something like the last ten drafts. An old friend of mine shows up to this one, a humble man who I respect a great deal, and a superb M:tG player. The final match of the night came down to the nasty player and my humble friend. My humble friend sat quietly, and had n answer for everything the nasty player did. Trapped by their arrogance, the nasty player proceeded to try again and again to acquire some sort of purchase towards a victory, but my friend just sat quietly and played more intelligently than him. He probably could have won at any given time, although it was never exactly clear, but victory was finally achieved by the nasty player literally drawing out his entire deck. When the nasty player had no cards left in his library, but had not yet drawn another card, my friend turned Tatsumasa ( http://essentialmagic.com/Cards/default.asp?ID=36481 ) and swung for the win. A complete victory.
2b. I won the half-box of boosters at the Timespiral pre-release. I handed out one to every player sitting around me, and I became their instant hero. I had always said I would do that, and it was very fulfilling.
3. I would say Jesus Christ, but I already know Him very well. So choosing from all the dead of history, I suppose I would have to say Saul who became Paul. I would like to meet him in Rome, and walk about the city with him, asking him the many questions I have regarding what precisely he meant in his letters, and the early church.
4. I find the dialogue witty and amusing, and admire a man who can make something new out of the same thing. Its a metaphor for everyday life. Even in repetition we can find creativity, intellect, and humour, as long as we are willing to try.
5. I have always claimed to be a romantic, in the sense that I cling to idealism and often see things as they should be, not as they are. My Romantic Revolution is my endless quest to make things as I see them, not as they are. Toast is included in the subtitle because I began the journal in highschool and was well known for perform the "Yeah, Toast!" song at various venues about the city. Games are included because gaming is a strong part of my self-identity, as is poetry. And finally, I am a man of many dreams, for good and for ill.

1)Not likely, unless Jett Lucas decides to make it happen after George's death. Of course, I was never optimistic about the prequels until they were announced, so I refuse to say never. I hope that if it DOES happen, they allow Spielberg to direct at least one.

2)Mirya Sterling. She's just badass. (man, hope I got the name right-been a LOOOONG time since I saw Macross or any other Robotech for that matter).

3) Nope. Lack of money coupled with no real desire to slog through more english, math, and foreign language (which I was SUPPOSED to have enough credits in after the hell I put myself through in college prep courses) to be an art major, which is the only thing I was interested in.

4)does the Justice league count as sci-fi? Because Green Lantern Guy Gardner is one of the characters I identify with a lot-the tortured soul who is a good guy at heart but hides behind a facade of smartassed lechery to keep everyone at arms length. Otherwise, it's Jar Jar, a good-intentioned fellow that can't ever get it quite right.

5)A couple of my friends, saddled with the nicknames of Sidearm and Scoob, were in the toy aisle checking out Star Trek figures, when Sidearm happened upon the Mirror Universe Spock figure. He picked it up, and bellowed "It's BAD SPOCK!" I ganked the name from him, with permission for use of his "intellectual property", and used it for a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson clone character in an online wrestling game. It kinda stuck on me, so I use it for my online alias for just about everything now.
