So yeah, this week is homecoming week in Tulsa. You'd think that be a fun week, but the problem lies in that I'm part of the student government.

As a student senator, I should be interested in putting on a good homecoming week for the student body. But, we have the student cabinet to handle the programming side of things. The way we do homecoming is that the person who will be in charge of homecoming is appointed one year in advance. This should take care of most problems, and the person in charge of next year's homecoming can shadow the person doing this year's homecoming.

Unfortunately, the guy doing last year's homecoming quit on us. So the entire student association has had to scramble to get everything covered. Just a month ago, we had nothing on campus reserved. We're really burning out two of our best cabinet members on this job, but somebody's got to do it. I've agreed to help out even though I don't really have the time to give.

I know that grades aren't everything. But right now, I can't even keep up to get decent grades. Therefore, I only have two paths. Continue on my current course and crash, or reverse the trend and drop a few things. Sadly, I'm the one who has to make that decision.

My raw thoughts on the third presidential debate tell me that Bush gained on Kerry.

Both candidates didn't disappoint by sidestepping the question on how to save Social Security. Bush's plan for young people to earmark their own money goes against the very idea of Social Security. Kerry talked like he wanted to preserve the status quo, which we know won't work.

My solution is to up the retirement age to 75. When the retirement age was 65, people weren't living much longer past that. With the advances in modern science and medicine, upping the retirement age makes the most sense. Of course, since senior citizens have the biggest turnout rate of any age group, that idea wouldn't even make it out of the gate.

The reason I think Bush gained on Kerry is that the President looked much more composed than he did in the first debate. Perhaps, the Republican speech coaches managed to convince the American public that Bush isn't a total robot idiot.
