It would be the grand nephew of Julius Caesar, whom the historians call Octavian, who would forge the empire. But what were the key factors in Octavian's success in forging the Empire? There is one in particular that reminds me of Star Wars. From the Wikipedia article on Octavian:

Longevity was an undeniable factor in Augustus's success. He ruled for forty years! You had to wait until you were forty to be eligible for the consulship, the Republic's highest office. Augustus ruled so long that few people of consequence could remember the Republic.
