Spelling bees
Jun. 2nd, 2005 06:54 pmThey crowned another spelling bee champion today (for the fantasy sports people out there, this is good for some laughs). It's amazing what these kids can spell. Then again, they study for hours on end for the competition.
Those kinds of things bring back old memories. Way, way back when my parents tried to push me hard to do that kind of stuff. I went to county level twice. Unfortunately, I was not as assiduous in my studies as I needed to be to win.
But, as usual, you always remember the words that beat you:
P-O-D-I-A-T-R-I-S-T, sixth grade.
S-E-D-E-N-T-A-R-Y, eighth grade.
