There's a dark side to hope

There's nothing like raising someone's hope and then crushing them mercilessly. That's the dark side to hope.

Sanguine saline turns into sorrowful saline. Terrific tears of joy become terribe tears of despair. A kind, understanding God becomes a mocking, incomprehensible Lord.

(Obligatory note: Droopy voice was used to shock you. I am actually very saddened by the death of the miners. So sad that I have to use sarcasm to detach myself from their sad story.)

Something that happened in my life
I managed to organize five out of six of my high school inner circle for dinner and a movie tomorrow night. The only one missing will be fighting insurgents in Iraq. May God bless samurai Maph.

We're meeting at Mike's apartment. I'm cooking burgers, Big Sis's fried potatoes, and corn with assistance from the black mage.

Syriana will be the movie for the night.

Joe Paterno is 79 years young and coaching a top tier Division I-A school like Penn State. I love the interview they showed during the interview.

Joe Pa is awesome. He's not like most coaches, solely worried about boosters and recruiting. Joe Pa actually cares about his players and wants to see them develop as men, not football players. That's why he's so highly respected, because he not only loves to coach footbal but he loves to coach life even more.

We need more coaches like Joe Pa. At all levels of sports.

D2 needs a "D2" icon

D2 needs a "D2" icon. Except he doesn't have Photoshop, or leet photoshopping skilz for that matter. So he asks his fine friends, could you make a "D2" icon for me? Literally, the icon should prominently feature the letter "D" and the number "2". Except he has no clue whatsoever what he wants for an icon.

So he's giving you free reign to be creative!

After last time, D2 has learned to screen the comments on this post so you won't see anyone else's entries. He'll give it until tomorrow noon, CST (which is about sixteen hours from now). If he can't decide between two awesome submissions, he might just use both or go to a poll.

As part of the law of equivalent exchange, if you submit a quality icon, D2 will write a 500 word (no more, no less) essay on a query of your choice. As long as he finds the query interesting (no, I'm not going to write five hundred words about the mating habits of African anteaters).
