Eyes of bitterness
Oct. 9th, 2004 03:06 pmI have eyes of bitterness, the eyes you get when you've been working too hard and nobody appreciates you.
Now, those eyes have been converted into eyes of confidence, so now I can recognize eyes of bitterness in other people. And I saw some yesterday.
Homecoming week is next week for Tulsa, so everyone in student government will be scrambling to put on a good show for the student body. The strange thing is that a month ago we had nothing reserved on campus.
The way we do homecoming at my college is that the person in charge of next year's homecoming is appointed this year. It's a two year committment. The guy for this year's homecoming kind of quit on us though, so next year's homecoming director was thrown into the fire along with our marketing guy.
The chipper homecoming director had eyes filled with bitterness. I confirmed this in talking with her, for her speech strongly hinted of someone who had been given a job they wanted to quit on but had to do it because nobody else would.
Student government eats your soul.
