I was discussing something with my suitemate and student association treasurer, wldntulk2knwwho. Old friends never change the way they saw you. Or, at the very least, it takes a lot of work to change their first impression of you. You think the same way of them.

I thought back to when my two old high school buddies visited me last week. How do they see me? In their eyes, I'm still that indecisive valedictorian guy who says random things. Yeah, I'm a nerd at heart who likes playing collectible card games, killing people on first person shooters, and remembering all sorts of quotes from animes.

It's strange to think that I could ever have a serious discussion with most of my high school inner circle. They just know me so well that they know what I'm going to say before I say it. They also expect me to do the same. Sure, I can phrase things in terms of video game and anime references, but the answer's always the same.

Let me give you an example of the enlightening conversations I have with the forceful red-haired Mike, the anime/video games/role playing games addict.

Me: So yeah, I was thinking about giving up that arranged marriage thing...
Mike: Whatever, I don't worry about those kinds of things.
Me: I don't know, I had this random anime moment...
Mike: Life isn't an anime, you know.
Me: Sure, but the situation...
Mike: It's not like I can do anything about it.
Me: Aren't you interested in girls?
Mike: Nope. This is my plan. I'm going to turn off my biological side and let myself have some fun gaming for awhile.
Me: Can you really turn off your biological desires?
Mike: Sure, I do. I'll turn my biological side back on when I want to.
