My parents got a letter from an ethics essay competition for something I wrote last November. My essay was good enough to get into the semifinalist stage, but not the finalist stage. Oh well, it was good experience nonetheless.

So I started watching The Slayers anime. Um, the first two episodes are really slow. I'll give it a chance, though.

Yesterday was the first time I was introduced to the concept of a "stoplight" party (yeah, I know, I lead a sheltered life). You wear red to stop people, i.e. to say that you're taken. You wear yellow if you're in an open relationship. You wear green if you're single.

Well, some anime series take longer than others to get started.

Pirates have a promising young left hander, and that's about it.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who's never heard of a stoplight party.

Slayers does pick up after a while, and actually develops a plot, wonder of wonders. It's not great, but it's fun.

I'm not expecting greatness from a series that I picked up at twenty five bucks a season. But I'm sure I'll get to the fun parts soon enough. :)
