The stories I like to hear
Aug. 30th, 2004 05:24 pmI just realized something. If I'm true to myself, then I just have to write for myself. So I'm forging ahead with an update.
I took a guy from Northern Ireland to visit my church, Southwood Baptist yesterday. He was pleasantly caught off guard by the usual Baptist handshake welcoming.
Then I went to a scholarship dinner where I told things about myself that few people cared about (name, location, classification, major). And, in today's liberal society, we had a cs major declare his homosexuality. I suppose our new university president had to be rudely awakened about his "best and brightest" students sooner or later. Why not start from the very beginning?
The BSU Sunday night worship service, Celebration, had a little extra energy tonight. We're going to have a fun, fun year.
With good posts from my friends, I'll explain what kind of the stories I like to hear. I like stories that make me think because I want to contemplate upon this world. I like stories that are introspective because I want to know how people tick. I like stories that are told well because I want to be entertained. Most importantly, I like stories that teach me something because I want to learn.
Coincidentally, these are the same critera I use when I'm the one telling the story.
