Okay, say I just checked my schedule, and I just realized that I've RSVP'd to a breakfast with George Mitchell. Yes that George Mitchell, Senate Majority Leader during Bush I's term and Clinton's first term. He's invited as a guest of our school's two Truman Scholars, I just happened to luck out on an invitation since I applied for a Truman last year. And hey, there's a discussion question.

I like asking the type of question like "Hmmm, what influenced you to become a Senator in the first place?" But I figure one of my readers might have a question for Senator Mitchell, so...

If you could ask one question to Senator Mitchell, what would you ask?

What in your mind, makes a senate majority leader successful?

And what is in your mind the must important thing either party has do to retain or regain the majority? (with the listing to the people as a given of course)

Both pretty basic so if you ask them and can think of any follow ups I'd love it. (But only if you think it's o.k. to ask these in the first place, I mean it is your meeting with him...)

I'm actually quite envious, The amount of time I keep yapping about USA politics and politicians I never met any of them, And being the politic nerd I am I'd jump at the occasion. Love to hear how it went!

I like the question about what the Democratic party has to do to regain majority. A good followup to that would be to ask how much of that can the Democrats achieve by the 2008 election.
