Changed the title of my blog again
Feb. 15th, 2006 05:59 pmI believe a name is important in describing who you are. Since I've decided to name my weekly comic in the campus newspaper "TU Cent Thoughts", I have to change the title of my blog. I now call it "Guarder of Guardians," a reference to a criticism of Plato's Republic.
In Plato's Republic, Socrates creates thenot so perfect Republic. The lynchpin of the Republic are the guardians. They defend and preserve the city. The problem was that if the guardians ever became corrupt, the city was doomed. So Socrates made use of a "noble lie" to tell the guardians so they would not be corrupted.
So the criticism of this is "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" In English, "Who guards the guardians?"
