One of my favorite LJers, the polyamorous Scat Hed Obsidian ([livejournal.com profile] scathedobsidian), seems to be going through a rather busy patch of his life. I loved his Word of the Week and his Ask Billy Series. So, in his stead, I've decided to steal continue those series. The Word of the Week will most likely be recorded Monday.

Ask D2 has the same rules as Ask Billy. Figure out the rules from Scat Hed's questions.

Ask D2, fine friends. Ask D2 anything you want.

Supreme Iron Chef Mario's One Pound Spaghetti

One lb of spaghetti noodles (preferably something thicker than string)
One lb of ground beef (preferably lean)
One can of spaghetti sauce (I prefer Garlic and Herb myself)
One can of tomato sauce (4 oz)
Diced onions (I dunno, mabe a fourth or half an onion, depending on how much you hate/love onions)

You will need:
A pot to boil noodles
A fairly large pain
Something to drain noodles and meat

1. Boil water. Put noodles into boiling water. Add um, a tablespoon of vegetable oil (my mom just eyes it so I'm not sure) and salt to the boiling water.
2. While water is boiling, put some vegetable oil onto pan and sautee onions for a minute or two.
3. Turn the heat on the pan with the sauteed onions to just warm. Check if pasta is ready for draining. You'll just know (I hope, I'm not never quite sure myself). Then drain noodles and wash in cold water for a bit.
4. Take ground beef and put it on top of the sauteed onions (You'll need to set it on a higher temp, probably medium high if you're worried about burning though I'm impatient and just high). Mix thoroughly while the beef is cooking.
5. Once beef is browned, add noodles on top. Then add spaghetti sauce. Then add tomato sauce. Start mixing throughly.
6. This step is the customizing step. My mom likes putting sprinkling a few pinches of salt and sugar at this point. My scheming roommate likes oregano. Your call here.
7. Cook until you feel the sauce has been adequeately cooked. This should take at least ten minutes.

Total time should be about 35-50 minutes, depending on stuff (for me this includes remembering to put vegetable oil into the pan before putting the onions on).

Jacob-kohai, it shouldn't take you more than two hours to read The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. Check out a copy from your university library when you get back to classes.

It does sound good. I'll look into it when I get home.

Haha. I just added that to my wishlist two days ago after I had to process a shipment of it at work.

Forgive me if this is answered already elsewhere in your LJ, I did my best to look. Forgive me also if it breaks the obfuscated rules, they are rather umbral.

What is your opinion on romantic love?

1. You have to like someone before you love them.
2. People's hearts can change.
3. If two people are truly in love, they will be building the same dream, not one or the other's.

One of the classic questions: If you had to eat one crayon out of a box of 64, which color would you eat?

Grey. It's a middling color, a color without feeling or emotion. I suppose it would taste about the same.

What is your greatest triumph, what is your greatest tragedy and how are they connected?

My greatest triumph and my greatest tragedy have the strongest connection possible. They are one and the same. It was graduating valedictorian out of my high school class of five hundred people. My parents had told me that I would graduate valedictorian ever since I could remember. Hearing that "Daniel Tu, Class Valedictorian" as I received my diploma was fulfilling that prophecy. Then again, Oscar Wilde once wrote a great line about how there are two tragedies in the world. “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.”
